[ARCHIVED] Douglas County BOC Sets Qualifying Fees for 2024 Election Cycle

(Douglasville, GA)- The Douglas County Board of Commissioners has approved a resolution officially setting qualifying fees for the upcoming primary and general election cycle for key positions within the county. The action followed a unanimous vote during the BOC’s Tuesday, January 23, 2024, legislative meeting.

State law requires the governing authority of each county to establish and publish a qualifying fee for each county office to be filled, no later than February 1st of any year in which a general primary, nonpartisan election or general election is to be held. 

The qualifying fees for the County offices on the 2024 election cycle are as follows:

  1. County Commission Chair: $2,688.65
  2. County Commissioner: $651.79
  3. Clerk of Superior Court: $2,591.46
  4. Probate Court Judge: $2, 591.46
  5. Sheriff: $2,891.46
  6. Tax Commissioner: $2,591.46
  7. State court Judge: $5,662. 19
  8. Coroner: $1,950.00
  9. County Board of Education Member: $739.87

These fees will be applicable to all candidates who intend to run for the specified positions in the upcoming election cycle. The fee amounts represent 3% percent of the base salary for the respective position. The funds collected through these qualifying fees will be utilized to cover the expenses associated with candidate registration and election administration.

The Qualifying dates for the 2024 election cycle are March 4, 2024, beginning at 9 a.m. through March 8th at 12:00 p.m. Qualifying logistics and locations are managed via candidates’ respective political parties. Location-specific details will be posted to the Board of Elections and Registration page on the County’s website at: www.douglascountyga.gov upon receipt.
