(Douglasville, GA)- The Douglas County Youth Commission proudly marked the culmination of its 7-month program with a graduation ceremony held at the Douglasville Conference Center on Thursday, April 11th. The ceremony honored 25 outstanding high school students from Douglas County who were recognized for their completion of civic engagement and leadership development.
The Douglas County Youth Commission is a program for 10th through 12th grade high school students serving as a cornerstone for youth development, offering an enriching curriculum centered on government, community engagement, critical thinking, and policy making as students explore opportunities in the public service sector. Throughout the program, Youth Commissioners delve into various facets of public service, honing their skills and expanding their understanding of civic responsibility.
Through the guidance of esteemed leaders from Douglas County Government and the local community, students explore topics ranging from planning & zoning to socio-economic trends within Metro Atlanta. Through this comprehensive approach, students gain insight into the workings of their community, empowering them to become future leaders.

The graduation ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including Vice-Chair and District 4 Commissioner, Mark Alcarez, Douglas County Sheriff, Tim Pounds, School Board Member, Michelle Simmons, proud parents, and supporters of the Douglas County Youth Commission.
As the graduates embark on their next chapter, the Douglas County Youth Commission remains committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders and fostering a culture of civic engagement and excellence within the community.
