Douglas County Government is partnering with the Georgia Arts Initiative and the Landen Prather Fine Art Gallery to present the ‘Shoot Your Shot’ competition for emerging visual artists ages 18 and up.
The competition aims to provide artists with a platform to showcase their work and gain exposure. Douglas County Government's Constituent Services Manager Wendy Caudle states, “There are so many artists using traditional materials in original ways and reimagining the way art is created and experienced. We understand how difficult it can be for artists to be seen, so we want to create an opportunity for these artists to show their work in a gallery, be inspired by their peers, and get feedback from professionals.”
Entrants may submit their work until July 9. Chosen artists will be notified of their acceptance into the exhibit on July 11. The ‘Shoot Your Shot’ Art Show will open on July 18 at 6 PM at the Douglas County Courthouse. The event will also feature a meet and greet with the artists. This event is free and open to the public. The artwork will be on display in the Douglas County Courthouse Art Gallery from July 18 through August 30.
Additionally, The judges’ panel will select three winners to receive a bevy of grand prizes, including a consultation and portfolio review with gallerist and artist Landen Prather, and a feature on the ARTSY platform through the Landen Prather Fine Art Gallery. Other grand prizes include a membership with the Georgia Arts Initiative and acting lessons from the Words in Motion Acting Studio. More prizes will be announced throughout the contest.
