(Douglasville, GA)- Suleman Rana, Managing Director of Douglas County’s Transportation Services Division, has been selected to participate in distinguished regional leadership program comprised of leaders from a wide-spectrum of government and policy-focused disciplines. Rana is one of just 57 regional leaders chosen to join the 2024 class of the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Regional Leadership Institute (RLI). The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is an intergovernmental agency that assists with regional planning in the metro Atlanta area. More than 1,500 alumni have graduated from the RLI program since the early ‘90s.
RLI is an immersive program of the Atlanta Regional Commission with hands-on opportunities to connect active learning to real-world planning and policy throughout metro Atlanta. Candidates for RLI were chosen through a competitive process that evaluated their ability to lead and their dedication to improving the well-being of their communities. This year’s program will focus on topics such as "housing affordability, transit and transportation planning, public health, natural resources, and investments in the region’s future”, according to ARC.
“I’m honored and humbled to have been selected for this prestigious leadership class,” Director Rana stated. “I look forward to further evaluating regional challenges, exchanging perspectives, and collaborating with my classmates to create effective, results-driven strategies. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the County Administration for their unwavering support and encouragement.”
The Regional Leadership Institute program runs from August 21st to November 14th.
