(Douglasville, GA)- Douglas County Board of Commissioners Vice Chairman and District 4 Commissioner Mark Alcarez has been selected to serve as a member of the Association County Commissioners of Georgia’s (ACCG) Lifelong Learning Committee, which oversees the organization’s Learning Academy. Vice Chair Alcarez is one of 16 statewide county officials to be nominated by ACCG President David Sikes to serve on the committee.
ACCG’s Lifelong Learning Academy provides new County Commissioners with important leadership training. Commissioner Alcarez’s role within the committee will involve evaluating curriculum offerings and providing recommendations, as necessary. His committee assignment will run through 2025.
“I’m very honored to be selected for ACCG’s Lifelong Learning Committee. ACCG has gone above and beyond to better Georgia’s counties, and the Lifelong Learning Academy is just one of the ways they are ensuring that Commissioners have the skills and knowledge required to serve our communities.” Commissioner Alcarez stated. “I will represent Douglas County with pride in this new role.”
Commissioner Alcarez previously showed his commitment to the professional development and betterment of Georgia’s counties when he participated in the ACCG Core Curriculum Review Retreat in August of this year. He, along with a select group of state and county leaders, contributed their input and expertise to the development of course outlines for the Lifelong Learning Academy. He was one of only seven Commissioners invited to participate in the retreat.
