District 3 Commissioner Martin Raxton is partnering with Splendors of Africa to host the 4th Annual Turkey Drive at 10AM on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Douglas County Courthouse.
The event will provide 500 turkeys and trimmings to families in need, ensuring they have a warm Thanksgiving meal. The drive is open to families in Douglas County facing financial hardship. The turkey distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies last, with no pre-registration required.
Splendors of Africa, founded in 2010, has a long-standing commitment to creating sustainable solutions for education and community development. This partnership aligns with the organization’s mission to uplift communities.
Commissioner Raxton expressed his enthusiasm for the event, saying, "This partnership with Splendors of Africa is about more than just giving out turkeys—it's about building a stronger, more connected community. Together, we’re making sure families can gather and celebrate during the holiday season while also supporting long-term solutions for addressing the needs of serving the underserved."
