Douglasville, GA – Commissioner Martin Raxton is declaring war on litter with the launch of an inspiring new Anti-Litter Campaign in Douglas County’s District 3. As the first step in this initiative, 16 eye-catching signs have been installed along three major corridors (Chapel Hill Road, Annewakee Road and Dorsett Shoals Road) in District 3. Each sign carries messages designed to inspire pride, promote community involvement and encourage residents to keep their neighborhoods litter-free.
This campaign responds to a growing challenge of increased littering along Douglas County’s extensive roadways. Commissioner Raxton is determined to address the issue with collaboration and action. This program will work in coordination with multiple City of Douglasville and Douglas County departments in an effort to curb excessive littering while fostering a focus on community engagement.
“Litter doesn’t just tarnish the appearance of our community—it diminishes our shared pride and sense of belonging,” said Commissioner Raxton. “By installing these signs, we’re taking a bold first step towards building a cleaner and greener District 3. But this is more than a government effort; it’s a community movement. Together, we can protect the beauty and integrity of Douglas County for generations to come.”

Suleman Rana, Managing Director of Douglas County’s Transportation Services Division, underscored the tremendous effort made by the DOT Maintenance team in managing the County’s right-of-way and combating litter:
“Our dedicated team tackles everything from mowing and pothole repairs to litter pick-up and emergency response, all while managing over 720 centerline miles of roadway,” said Rana. “Unfortunately, litter has become one of our biggest challenges. It drains our resources and impacts the ambiance of our County. This campaign shows the power of collective responsibility—when stakeholders work together, we can achieve a more beautiful Douglas County.”
Commissioner Raxton’s vision for the campaign goes beyond cleaning up roadsides. It’s about fostering a culture of pride and accountability.
“This initiative isn’t just about picking up trash—it’s about building a community that cares,” Raxton added. “We’re sending a clear message: the residents of District 3 will not tolerate littering. Stiff penalties will be enforced by law and code enforcement, but more importantly, we hope to inspire everyone to join in this effort. These signs are just the start of a movement to create a better, more progressive and brighter future for our neighborhoods.”
The Anti-Litter Campaign includes community outreach, partnerships with local organizations and opportunities for residents to participate in cleanup events.
