0019889 Lee Road Extension from SR 92 to Bomar Road

Project Description
The Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT), in coordination with Douglas County, is proposing improvements to Bomar Road and the Lee Road extension to enhance connectivity and reduce congestion in central Douglas County. The project (PI 0019889) includes reconstructing the Bomar Road at Pope Road intersection as a roundabout and widening Bomar Road to four 12-foot-wide travel lanes in each direction, extending 1.7 miles from south of Pope Road to the SR 92 and Lee Road intersection. The project also proposes a new four-lane section with a raised median, sidewalks, and a shared-use path. The project will improve access to Interstate-20, reduce SR 92 congestion, and support the growth of residential and commercial areas around Bomar Road and Lee Road, which are key nodes for future development in the Douglas County Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) and the Atlanta Regional Commission's Regional Transportation Plan (RTP).
